Isabelle Meuret has been a Professor of English, English-speaking world cultures, and narrative journalism at the Faculty of Letters, Translation and Communication, Free University of Brussels (ULB) since 2005. She holds a PhD in Comparative Literature and maintains active research in literary journalism and medical humanities.
Her scholarly focus spans:
- Literary Reporting: Analysis of narrative techniques in journalism
- Medicine and Literature: Intersections of healthcare narratives and literary expression
- Cross-cultural Analysis: English-speaking world cultures
She has held visiting scholar positions at:
- UCLA
- Stanford University (1999-2000)
- Columbia University (2019-2020)
- University of Oxford, Oxford Centre for Life-Writing (2022-2023)
Honors include her role as Research Chair of the International Association for Literary Journalism Studies. She recently contributed to major academic references like The Routledge Companion to American Literary Journalism Studies (2020) and coordinated a special issue of Literature and Medicine journal.
