Iris Kleinschmidt is a dramaturge, theater scholar, and Lecturer at Braunschweig University of Fine Arts and Technical University of Braunschweig. She is a doctoral candidate in Theater Studies at Ludwig Maximilians University Munich, researching the political dimensions of music theater for children and young people under Prof. David Roesner. Since 2022, she has been an associate member of the DFG-Graduiertenkolleg 2477 ‘Aesthetic Practice’ at the University of Hildesheim.
Her academic background includes an MA in Theater Pedagogy from the University of the Arts Berlin and studies in Leipzig, Brussels, and Munich. She has held roles such as Head of Theater für alle/ Theater und Schule at Staatstheater Braunschweig and currently co-directs JUNGES! Music Theater. Her work focuses on collaborative performance, political representation in youth theater, and institutional critique.
