Ioannis Stavrakakis

Ioannis Stavrakakis is a Professor at the Department of Informatics and Telecommunications, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (Greece), where he served as Chair from 2012 to 2016. He has held faculty positions at Northeastern University (1994-1999) and the University of Vermont (1988-1994), following his Ph.D. from the University of Virginia, USA (1988).

Research Interests: Networking, including social, mobile, ad hoc, information-centric, delay-tolerant, and future internet architectures; network resource allocation algorithms and protocols; traffic management and performance evaluation; human-driven decision-making in competitive environments.

• Mercator Fellow of DFG MAKI Centre at TU Darmstadt (2017-2020, Germany)

Advising & Grants: Supervised 20 Ph.D. graduates and received funding from USA-NSF, DARPA, GTE, BBN, Motorola, Greek and EU agencies, including 2 Marie-Curie grants. Served on NSF and EU-IST proposal panels.
