Prof. Ingrid Robeyns is a Professor of Ethics of Institutions at Utrecht University's Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies, part of the Faculty of Humanities. She holds a visiting professorship at the LSE's Center for Analysis of Social Exclusion. Her research focuses on political philosophy, applied ethics, distributive justice, and the capability approach. She leads the 'Visions of the Future' project funded by an NWO-VICI grant (2023–2028), exploring ethical frameworks for future societies. Previously, she directed the 'Fair Limits' ERC project on wealth distribution and published Limitarianism: The Case Against Extreme Wealth, translated into multiple languages.
Robeyns has been a co-PI in the Ethics of Socially Disruptive Technologies (ESDiT) project and served as President of the Human Development and Capability Association (2018–2020). She is a member of the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences. Her teaching includes ethics of institutions, climate ethics, and the capability approach. She co-supervises PhD students and advocates for public philosophy through initiatives like the Utrecht Day of Philosophy and Ethical Annotations.
