Ingrid Halland

Ingrid Halland is Associate Professor at the University of Bergen’s Department of Linguistic, Literary and Aesthetic Studies. She leads interdisciplinary projects like 'How Norway Made the World Whiter' and 'The Materiality of White,' examining titanium dioxide’s cultural and ecological impacts through artistic research.

Research focuses on material ecologies, extraction aesthetics, and the ethics of design. Halland investigates how industrial materials like TiO₂ shape cultural narratives of whiteness while advancing critical approaches to resource economies and environmental justice.

Her curatorial work includes exhibitions like 'Kampanje!' at Jøssingfjord Science Museum, which interrogates mining legacies through site-specific installations and public engagement.
