Inge Kryger Pedersen is an Associate Professor at the Department of Sociology, University of Copenhagen, affiliated with the Faculty of Social Sciences. She holds dual roles in the Department of Sociology and the Department of Public Health. Her research focuses on health-related issues, medical technologies, and the interplay between laypeople and professionals in healthcare contexts.
Education:

- Bachelor in Cultural Sociology (1983) and Physical Education (1987), University of Copenhagen
Research Interests: Sociology of Health, Medical Technologies, Expertise Dynamics, Knowledge Practices, and Body Culture. She explores how medical knowledge is negotiated in everyday life and institutional settings.
Recent Research: Her current projects include studies on medical hearing technology’s social impact (funded by Velux Foundations) and global-local responses to health challenges like antibiotic resistance and chronic disease prevention. She has led projects on alternative medicine’s popularity and its sociocultural underpinnings.

Teaching & Supervision: She supervises PhD students and teaches courses on sociology, health, and methodology. To date, 11 PhD students have graduated under her guidance.
Labs/Teams: Co-director of the 'Knowledge, Organization & Politics' research group and co-founder of the Centre for the Sociological Study of Science, Expertise & Society (CEVES).
