Ines Henriques-Cadby is a Lecturer in Mathematics of Data Science and MRC SD Fellow in the Department of Statistics at The University of Manchester. She holds an Honorary Research Fellow position at The University of Sheffield and has held roles including Research Fellow and Associate at Sheffield, and Visiting Assistant Professor at the University of California, Riverside. Her expertise spans Mathematics, Statistics, and their applications in Public Health, particularly focusing on spatial epidemiology related to alcohol availability and harm. She is a founding organizer of the Early Career Alcohol Research Symposium (ECARS), supported by the Society for the Study of Addiction.
Education: PhD in Mathematics from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (2010), MSc in Statistics with Medical Statistics from The University of Sheffield, and dual degrees in Applied Mathematics/Computer Science (Instituto Superior Técnico) and Mathematics (Nebraska-Lincoln).
Research interests include spatial mathematics/statistics, statistical learning, hospital performance metrics, and commutative/homological algebra. She is funded by MRC, NIHR, and UK governments. Awards include the MRC Skills Development Fellowship.
Grants and advising: Accepts PhD students interested in her research areas. Her work contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goals on global health and inequalities.
Labs/Teams: Active in Manchester’s Institute for Data Science and AI, Christabel Pankhurst Institute, and Digital Futures initiatives.
