Ina Schäfer

Ina Schäfer is a doctoral candidate and academic assistant at the Graduate School of Health and Social Professions, University of Kassel, focusing on migration, intercultural education, and social work. She served as a Lecturer for Special Tasks (LfbA) at the University of Kassel from 2019–2020 and has held research assistant roles under Prof. Dr. Manuela Westphal since 2017.

Research Focus: Schäfer investigates transformation processes in post-socialist societies, particularly their impact on refugee integration, civil society resilience, and Roma communities. Her work addresses right-wing populism, socio-spatial shelters, and contextual risks for marginalized groups.

Publications & Lectures: She has authored and co-authored studies on field research ethics, Roma youth development, and migration-related diversity, with notable lectures at the DGSA Conference, DEZIM Young Talents Conference, and international workshops.

Labs & Teams: Schäfer contributes to the graduate school’s research on professionalization of health and social professions, collaborating on projects related to democratic structures, community work, and inclusive professional attitudes.
