Barbara Schäuble

Prof. Dr. Barbara Schäuble is a Professor for Diversity-Aware Approaches in Social Work Theory and Practice at the Alice Salomon University of Applied Sciences Berlin since 2013. Previously, she held acting professorships at the University of Applied Sciences and Arts Holzminden-Hildesheim-Göttingen (2011–2013) and was a Research Associate at the University of Kassel (2009–2011). Her doctoral studies (2005–2009) were funded by the Hans Böckler Foundation. Prior academic roles included practice in youth work, migration law advice, and political advising.

• Research Interests: Social work sociology, critical diversity studies, conflict theory, inequality, migration, racism, antisemitism, right-wing extremism, education policy, and didactics.
• Current Roles: Member of the Department Council 1 (since 2023), Spokesperson for the Budget Commission, and liaison lecturer for the Rosa Luxemburg Foundation.

Her research emphasizes societal conflicts, institutional critique, and structural change in social work. Key publications include Conflict Analyses: Elements of Critical Social Work (2022) and Antisemitism in Everyday Communication Among Youth (2013). She actively engages in policy advocacy against right-wing extremism and develops educational strategies addressing discrimination in higher education.

Her work bridges theory and practice, addressing challenges in refugee accommodations, participatory planning, and ethical standards in social work. Notable contributions include position papers on social work with refugees and collaborative conflict analyses.
