Ina Maja Vorberg

Prof. Dr. Ina Maja Vorberg serves as Group Leader at the German Center for Neurodegenerative Diseases (DZNE) in Bonn, Germany, where she directs research on molecular mechanisms of prion formation and intercellular spread of pathological protein aggregates.

Her laboratory investigates:

• Neurodegenerative disease progression through protein misfolding
• Prion-like domain propagation in mammalian systems
• Transmissible spongiform encephalopathies (TSEs) mechanisms
• Cellular pathways for aggregate dissemination

Using high-throughput cell assays, organotypic brain slice cultures, and mouse models, her work bridges yeast prion biology with human neurodegenerative conditions including amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.
