Imran I. Ali

Imran I. Ali, MD is a Professor and Chair of the Department of Neurology at the University of Toledo College of Medicine and Life Sciences. He currently serves as Dean of the College of Medicine and Life Sciences (2025–present) and held prior roles including Interim Dean, Vice Dean for Undergraduate Medical Education, and Senior Associate Dean for Academic Affairs.

• Education: MD from Aga Khan University (1989), followed by internship at West Virginia University Hospitals (1990–1991), residency at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (1991–1994), and fellowship in Epilepsy/Clinical Neurophysiology (1994–1996).

Research interests include the chronic effects of antiepileptic therapy, bone health in epilepsy patients, status epilepticus, medical student neurological education, and epilepsy in women. His work spans clinical neurophysiology, sleep disorders, and curriculum development.

Key publications address neurological complications of COVID-19, sleep-epilepsy interactions, medical education reforms, and migraine pharmacology. He has contributed to national guidelines and educational frameworks in neurology.
