Ilze Bot

Prof. Ilze Bot is a Professor of Cardiovascular Pharmacology at the Leiden Academic Centre for Drug Research (LACDR), Leiden University. She leads research into molecular mechanisms of atherosclerotic plaque destabilization to identify novel drug targets. Her work focuses on immune-inflammatory pathways involving mast cells and complement factors. She holds the title of Established Investigator from the Dutch Heart Foundation.

Research interests emphasize cardiovascular pharmacology, particularly mast cell biology's role in atherosclerosis and vein graft disease. Her lab employs animal models to study inflammatory processes in vascular diseases, with a focus on cytokine regulation and therapeutic intervention strategies.
