About
Dr. Ihsan Al-Aasm is a Professor at the School of the Environment, University of Windsor. His research focuses on Stable Isotope Geochemistry, Diagenesis, Reservoir Characterization, and Low-temperature Geochemistry. He has advised numerous graduate students and holds prestigious awards, including the University of Windsor Research Achievement Award (2006) and the Canadian Society of Petroleum Geologists Medal of Merit (2010). His work spans carbonate sedimentology, fluid flow evolution, and reservoir quality assessment in regions like Alberta, UAE, and Iran.
- Education: B.Sc. (University of Baghdad, 1974), M.Sc. (University of Baghdad, 1977), Ph.D. (University of Ottawa, 1985)
- Research Projects: Ongoing studies include diagenesis of Middle East reservoirs and sedimentologic-isotopic analysis of Devonian-Mississippian carbonates.
Dr. Al-Aasm's stable isotope laboratory specializes in analyzing C, N, and O isotopes in geologic materials, supporting his research on reservoir characterization and fluid evolution. Recent publications address dolomitization, meteoric water incursion, and hydrocarbon degradation in Cretaceous reservoirs.
