Ignacio Sánchez Prado is a Professor of Spanish, Latin American Studies, and Film and Media Studies at Washington University in St. Louis. He holds appointments in the Latin American Studies Program, the Department of Romance Languages and Literatures, and serves as Director of Undergraduate Studies for the Latin American Studies Program. Previously, he was appointed as the Kluge Chair of the Cultures of the South at the Library of Congress (2021). He earned a PhD in Romance Languages from the University of Pittsburgh.
His research focuses on Mexican literary and cultural studies, Latin American intellectual history, neoliberalism, food cultural studies, and world literature theory. Notable works include Screening Neoliberalism: Mexican Cinema 1988-2012 (2014), Strategic Occidentalism (2018), and Mexican Literature as World Literature (2021). He is also editing volumes on Mexican poetry and the novel for Cambridge University Press.
