Ibrahim Efe

Ibrahim Efe is a Research Fellow (Syrian Refugees) at the Global Development Institute (GDI), University of Manchester. His work focuses on migration policy implementation, forced migration, and the socio-political impacts of displacement policies, particularly in Turkey, Jordan, and Lebanon. He holds a PhD in Applied Linguistics from Lancaster University (2012), funded by the Turkish Ministry of Education, and completed a post-doctoral fellowship at GDI in 2019.

Teaching: Teaches modules on humanitarian ethics, identity citizenship, and coordinates the EU-funded Jean Monnet Module 'EU-Begin'. Integrates case studies on Syrian refugees in his courses.

Research Interests: Explores lived experiences of displaced populations, migration governance, and the interplay between global frameworks and local realities. Specializes in critical discourse analysis of media narratives and political framing around migration.

Grants: EU funding for the Jean Monnet Module. Research supported by projects on migration policy implementation in Middle Eastern contexts.
