Ian Wilson is a Professor of Recorder, Teaching Skills & Professional Studies, and Recorder Consort at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama. He also serves as Head of Woodwind at Eton College and is a visiting recorder specialist at the North East of Scotland Music School. His roles include Chamber Music Coach in the Chamber Music department. Wilson is a prominent performer in early music, founding the recorder quartet The Flautadors and collaborating with renowned groups like The Sixteen and Arcangelo.
His performance career spans orchestras worldwide, including the Budapest Festival Orchestra and BBC Philharmonic, alongside appearances at major festivals such as Edinburgh Festival and BBC Proms. Beyond classical music, he has contributed to albums by Paris Motel and Vashti Bunyan. Wilson is the conductor of the Scottish Recorder Orchestra and has adjudicated competitions in the UK, France, Ireland, and Hong Kong.
