Ian Stansel

Ian Stansel is an Associate Professor and Director of Creative Writing at the University of Louisville. He holds an M.F.A. from the Iowa Writers' Workshop and a Ph.D. in Literature and Creative Writing from the University of Houston. His work focuses on literary fiction, narrative techniques, and contemporary American literature.

Research Interests: Creative Writing pedagogy, short story composition, novelistic form, and themes of cultural identity and existential exploration. His published works include the novel The Last Cowboys of San Geronimo (2017) and story collections Glossary for the End of Days (2020) and Everybody's Irish (2013), which was a PEN/Bingham Prize finalist.
