Ian Slaughter

Ian Slaughter is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Nursing and Health Science at the University of Sunderland, serving as an Apprenticeship Educator and Supervisor in Practice. He joined the university in December 2017 after a career in the National Health Service (NHS) and Royal Air Force. His professional background includes roles as Module Leader for Professional Issues in Defence Health Care and Staff Officer in Education and Training within the Defence Medical Services. Currently, he teaches on the BSc (Hons) Registered Nurse Degree Apprenticeship and leads the Holistic Adult Nursing in Practice module. His focus centers on leadership development for junior personnel and professional growth within organizational contexts. Prior to academia, he led the Chartered Management Degree and Senior Leader (MBA) Apprenticeship programs. His work emphasizes bridging practical healthcare experience with academic training to foster skilled nursing professionals.
