Senior Lecturer and Apprentice Educator in the BSc (Hons) Registered Nurse Degree Apprenticeship at the University of Sunderland. Giles joined the University in 2021 after working in community mental health services, including roles in Assertive Outreach, Early Intervention in Psychosis, and Criminal Justice Liaison. He qualified as a mental health nurse in 2003 and holds a master's degree in Psychosocial Interventions.
- Teaching Roles: Module leader for ANAMHALDA200 (Practice-Based Evidence for Evidence-Based Practice) and ANAMHALDA203 (Holistic Nursing for Altered Physiology to Promote Wellbeing).
- Research Focus: Peer support in schizophrenia, gender and ADHD in mental health, and working with individuals with mental health needs in probation services. Specializes in psychosis assessment, offender health safety management, and personality disorder interventions.
