Ian Hendy

Dr Ian Hendy is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Portsmouth, affiliated with the Faculty of Science and Health and the School of the Environment and Life Sciences. He specializes in Biological Sciences and Environmental Geography and Geosciences, focusing on mangrove ecosystems, marine biodiversity, and climate change impacts. His research integrates ecological restoration, remote sensing, and education technology.

He leads the Centre for Blue Governance and collaborates with the Marine Environmental Science Research Group and the Institute of the Earth and Environment. His work emphasizes sustainable mangrove restoration, seagrass conservation, and AI applications in education, such as using ChatGPT to design field courses.
