IVÁN REGA CASTRO serves as an Associate Professor in the Department of Artistic and Documentary Heritage at the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters, University of León. His academic appointment remains active with no indication of emeritus or retired status.
His research spans History of Art, Religious Art, and Cultural History, with growing expertise in Digital Humanities and Gender Studies. He earned his doctorate from Universidade de Santiago de Compostela in 2010 under Dr. Juan Manuel Monterroso Montero. His dissertation examined Los retablos mayores en el sur de la diócesis de Santiago de Compostela durante el siglo XVIII (1700 a 1775). Iglesia, cultura y poder (Major altarpieces in southern Santiago de Compostela diocese, 1700-1775), analyzing intersections of ecclesiastical power, cultural production, and artistic patronage.
