Dr. Hyung Joon Yoon is an Associate Professor of Workforce Education and Development (WFED) in the College of Education at Pennsylvania State University, where he also serves as Professor-in-Charge of the WFED program. Previously, he held faculty positions at Al Akhawayn University and George Washington University. His professional experience spans HRD practice, career coaching, and OD consulting for organizations including LG Display, Korea Leadership Center, and the Korean Army.
Dr. Yoon's research focuses on empowering individuals and organizations through human agency and hope. He developed the Human Agency-Based Individual Transformation (HABIT) model and co-created Hope-Action Theory with associated assessment tools. His work has been translated into 7 languages and applied globally in career development contexts.
He holds a Ph.D. in Workforce Education and Development from Penn State and maintains multiple certifications including Career Development Facilitator Master Trainer and Six Sigma Green Belt. As Associate Editor of Human Resource Development Review (2020-2023), he contributed to theory-building in HRD.

Leadership & Service
Directs the Agentic Career, Leadership, and Organization Development (ACLOD) Lab, aiming to become a global research hub for agentic organizations. Lab goals include securing $10M NSF grants and developing AI-enhanced career platforms. Served on NCDA's Board of Directors (2013-2019).
