Huw Daniel is a Baroque Violin Tutor with extensive involvement in early music ensembles. He holds a first-class honours degree in Music from Robinson College, University of Cambridge (2001), and specialized in baroque violin at the Royal Academy of Music under Simon Standage. His career focuses on historical performance practices, leading prominent orchestras such as the Dunedin Consort, Irish Baroque Orchestra, and Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment. Since 2004, he has been leader of the Orquestra Barroca Casa da Música in Porto, Portugal, and frequently guest-leads groups like the European Union Baroque Orchestra (EUBO) and the English Concert.
His instrument is a 1720 violin by Alessandro Mezzadri, loaned by the Jumpstart Junior Foundation. Daniel’s work emphasizes collaborative orchestral performance and the revival of period-instrument traditions across Europe.
