Huma Shah

Huma Shah is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Education at Coventry University's CEES School of Science. She holds a PhD in 'Deception-detection and machine intelligence in Practical Turing tests' from the University of Reading. Her work focuses on AI ethics, GDPR compliance, social robotics, and digital trust, contributing to UN Sustainable Development Goals related to education and privacy.

• Affiliations: European Platform for Women Scientists, EU AI Alliance, CLAIRE network.
• Projects: Led the CSI-COP EU Horizon2020 project, winning the PICCASO Privacy Award for GDPR compliance research.

Research Interests: AI Ethics, Data Protection, GDPR Compliance, Social Robotics, Turing Test, Deception-detection, Cybercrime, Gender in STEM. She has supervised one doctoral candidate, Matthew S. Tart, and authored/co-authored over 29 publications, including peer-reviewed articles and book chapters.

Awards: London 2012 Inspire Mark, PICCASO Privacy Award. Active in media engagements, including IEEE Spectrum, FT, and Guardian podcasts.

Labs/Teams: Co-organizer of the Loebner Prize for AI, involved in CSI-COP's citizen science initiatives.
