Huiyun Liang is a Lecturer in class piano and Teacher of Applied Music at the Department of Music, Washington University in St. Louis, within the College of Arts & Sciences. She holds a D.M.A. in Piano Pedagogy from the University of South Carolina and an M.Ed. in Music Education from the University of Missouri-Columbia.
Her research focuses on innovative teaching methods, including integrating video modeling technology and motor imagery to enhance piano technique. She has presented at conferences such as the Music Teachers National Association National Conference and the Piracicaba International Piano Festival. Her 2021 article in the MTNA e-journal explores technology in piano education.
Dr. Liang is active in performance, having collaborated with the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra and recorded for Matthew Hoormann’s album Somniloquy. She chairs the Legacy Fund at the Saint Louis Music Teachers Association, which organizes piano festivals and received a grant from the MTNA Foundation. Previously, she served on the piano faculty at Lindenwood University (2018–2021).
