Hui Ma is an Associate Professor in the Applied Mathematics department at the University of Virginia (UVA), part of the School of Engineering and Applied Science. She specializes in teaching applied mathematics to engineering students, emphasizing student confidence and joyful learning experiences. Her research focuses on innovative teaching methods, curriculum design, and improving student outcomes in mathematics education.
Dr. Ma holds a Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics (2012) and an M.S. in the same field (2008), both from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Before joining UVA, she taught at Black Hills State University.
