Hugo García González

Hugo García González is a Professor of Spanish in the Department of Languages, Literatures, and Cultures at Western Washington University, located in Bellingham. He holds a B.A. from Universidad de La Habana, M.A. from St. John's University, and Ph.D. from The Ohio State University. His research focuses on Afro-Cuban cultures, colonial satire, interdisciplinary arts-literature connections, and Latin American films. He co-edited the anthology Asintomática (2021), analyzing pandemic-era writings, and published critical editions of colonial texts like Lima por dentro y fuera (2011). His work bridges historical analysis with contemporary cultural studies, often examining urban spaces and religious symbolism in colonial contexts.
