Hubert Weitensfelder is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Economic and Social History at the University of Vienna. He holds a Mag. phil. (1983) and Dr. phil. (1989) from the University of Graz, followed by a Habilitation in 2002 from the University of Vienna. His research focuses on 18th-20th century regional history, the history of technology as cultural history, and labor history. He currently serves as Division Manager of the 'Handwerkliche und industrielle Produktionstechnik' collection at Wien's Technischen Museum.
His notable publications include Technikgeschichte. Eine Annäherung (2013) and Industrie-Provinz. Vorarlberg in der Frühindustrialisierung (2001). His work bridges economic, social, and technological dimensions, emphasizing cultural interpretations of technological change.
