Peter Eigner is an Associate Professor at the University of Vienna's Department of Economic and Social History within the Faculty of Historical and Cultural Studies. He holds a Mag. phil. (1988), Dr. phil. (1997), and Habilitation (2001) from the University of Vienna. His research focuses on Habsburg Monarchy economic development (1740–1918), 20th-century Austrian economic history, business history (banking and industry), urbanization (especially Vienna), and the Austrian economic middle class (1895–1940).
