Hsin-Wen Lee

Hsin-Wen Lee is an Associate Professor in the Department of Philosophy at the University of Delaware, affiliated with the College of Arts & Sciences. Her research focuses on political philosophy, philosophy of law, and issues of nationalism and multiculturalism. She holds a Ph.D. from the University of Southern California, an M.A. from National Chung Cheng University, and a B.A. from Chinese Culture University.

Her work examines topics such as the justification of punishment, theories of national self-determination, and equality in governance. Recent publications include analyses of cultural nationalism, consequentialist approaches to punishment, and the ethical implications of secession in multinational states. She teaches courses such as Social and Political Philosophy and Contemporary Moral Problems.

Dr. Lee’s research bridges normative ethics and political theory, addressing contemporary challenges in global justice and East Asian philosophical frameworks. Her articles consistently engage with debates about societal self-defense, distributive justice, and the moral foundations of legal systems.
