About
Hope Casto is Associate Professor and Chair of Education Studies at Skidmore College. Her scholarship examines how schools cultivate community partnerships to advance educational equity, particularly in rural contexts. Research analyzes policy implementation mechanisms for early childhood programs and systemic approaches to school-community revitalization.
She developed frameworks for 'community-aware' educational policies that simultaneously enhance individual outcomes and community vitality. Current projects investigate leadership practices that bridge institutional and community contexts to address resource disparities in rural districts.
Her publications demonstrate consistent focus on spatial dimensions of educational opportunity, including child care deserts in New York and administrative perceptions of rurality. Methodologically, she employs institutional analysis to examine policy implementation dynamics within complex community ecosystems.
