Holger Loodus

Holger Loodus (b. 1970) is an Estonian artist and Associate Professor at the Estonian Academy of Arts, affiliated with the Faculty of Fine Arts and Painting Department. His practice integrates painting and kinetic installations, often referencing cinema and its history, with a focus on magical realism and sci-fi narratives.

Loodus’s work explores themes like human alienation, refugee migration, and the dynamics of obstacles, blending documentary realism with minimalist aesthetics. His exhibitions, such as "Journey to the End of the World" (2017) and "Reimagining Those Old Slopes" (2021), interrogate historical myths and their transformation into mass-consumable design.
