Hilde Rustad

Hilde Rustad is a Professor at Kristiania University College, where she teaches dance improvisation, contact improvisation, theory, and performance work within the Department of Performing Arts at the School of Arts, Design and Media.

Educational background:

• Trained dancer and choreographer at Amsterdam University of the Arts, School for New Dance Development (SNDO).

Her research spans dance improvisation, contact improvisation, contemporary dance, dance and age, dance in physical education, and physical learning. She has published numerous articles and book chapters analyzing these areas as traditions, interpretations, and lived experiences, with doctoral work titled "Dancing at your own pace?"

Professional engagement:

• Editorial board member of the Nordic Journal of Dance
• Board member and former chair (2015-2017) of the Nordic Forum for Dance Research (NOFOD)

As a performing artist, she has choreographed productions shown at Oslo venues including Dansens hus and Black Box, with international performances across Sweden, Finland, Russia, Estonia, Germany, the Netherlands, Japan, and the West Bank.
