Hanna Gillgren is a Lecturer at the London Contemporary Dance School, a co-director of the H2DANCE collective (active since 1999), and an internationally recognized choreographer with over two decades of experience. She graduated with a BA Honours Degree in Contemporary Dance from London Contemporary Dance School in 1994 and has since created more than 20 works with H2DANCE, collaborating with institutions like Norrdans, Dansit, and The Place. Her practice spans live performance, digital works, and intergenerational projects, often exploring themes of identity, group dynamics, and expanded choreographic formats.
Her research interests include contemporary dance, intergenerational performance, and the intersection of dance with technology and site-specific contexts. Notable collaborations include work with filmmakers Rachel Davies and Gemma Burditt, resulting in internationally acclaimed pieces like GOLD (IMZ Award 2005) and Strangers and Others (2017). She has held visiting lecturer roles since 2002, teaching Release Technique and choreographic commissions to degree students.
