Henry Travers

Dr. Henry Travers is a Senior Visiting Researcher at the University of Oxford, focusing on conservation and development projects in Uganda and Cambodia. His current work includes evaluating the Ibis Rice payments for ecosystem services programme in Cambodia using randomized control trials and quasi-experimental methods, and a Darwin-funded project assessing health-care interventions' impact on conservation outcomes near Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in Uganda. He also leads a follow-up project addressing wildlife crime in Murchison Falls National Park, funded by the Illegal Wildlife Trade Challenge Fund.

Collaborations include the International Institute for Environment and Development (IIED), Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS Uganda), and Ugandan Wildlife Authority. His research bridges conservation strategies with human wellbeing, emphasizing pro-poor approaches to wildlife crime and sustainable development. Projects are funded through international grants such as Darwin Initiative and Illegal Wildlife Trade Challenge Fund.
