Dr. Helene Sinnreich is Professor and Head of the Department of Religious Studies at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, within the College of Arts and Sciences. She serves as co-editor-in-chief of Holocaust and Genocide Studies (Oxford University Press). Her research centers on Jewish experiences during the Holocaust, with a focus on Nazi ghettos, starvation policies, gender analysis, and religious representations. She holds a Ph.D. and M.A. from Brandeis University and a B.A. from Smith College.
Her research interests include Holocaust Studies, Jewish History, Gender Studies, and Public Health History. Current projects examine public health in ghettos, selections at Auschwitz, and religious narratives of survival.
She has received prestigious fellowships:
