Helen Walsh

Helen Walsh is the Associate Dean (Education) in the Faculty of Business, Law and Arts at Southern Cross University (SCU). She holds an AssocDipBus from the University of New England, an LLB from SCU, and an LLM from Queensland University of Technology.

Her research focuses on legal education, family law, and children’s law, emphasizing first-year student transition support and fostering respectful academic environments. Prior to SCU, she practiced family and criminal law in private practice in the Northern Rivers region.

She is a solicitor of the Supreme Court of New South Wales and actively engaged with professional organizations, including the Family Law Section of the Law Council of Australia, the Australasian Law Academics Association, and the National Mediators Standards Board. Her accolades include the 2021 Inspiring Educators Award and 2008 Vice-Chancellor’s Citation.
