Helen Mann is a Senior Lecturer at the School of Sport and Physical Activity, part of the College of Health, Wellbeing and Life Sciences at Sheffield Hallam University. Her teaching focuses on practical coaching modules, emphasizing applied learning and industry collaboration. She co-authored the Level 2 multi-skill qualification in Sport and integrates it into her curriculum. Her research interests include physical literacy across the lifecycle, pedagogical practices, and coach education, particularly for children and adolescents.
She leads the 'Gamechangers' project to increase female representation in sport courses and manages the international 'UK Sport IDEALS programme' offering Tanzanian student placements. She holds a BA (Hons) in Sport & Recreation Management, an MA in Education, and a PGCE. She is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (SFHEA) and serves as an External Examiner for sport courses at Buckinghamshire New University and the University of Cumbria.
Helen has extensive industry experience with Local Authorities, National Governing Bodies of Sport, and UK Coaching. Her personal pursuits include mountaineering and ultramarathons, reflecting her passion for physical activity.
