Helen Cross

Professor Helen Cross is Director of the UCL Great Ormond Street Institute of Child Health and holds the Prince of Wales's Chair of Childhood Epilepsy. She leads epilepsy research and clinical services at University College London, Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children, and Young Epilepsy in Lingfield. Currently serving as President of the International League Against Epilepsy (2021-2025).

Research interests span early onset complex epilepsy outcomes, presurgical neuroimaging evaluation, ketogenic diet therapy, and genetic therapies for rare epilepsies. She investigates neurodevelopmental comorbidities in epilepsy and contributes to international seizure classification frameworks.

Recent publications focus on telemedicine in epilepsy care, developmental coordination disorder comorbidities, machine learning diagnostics, and surgical outcome determinants. Her work bridges clinical practice, neuroimaging innovation, and global health equity in epilepsy management.
