Heidrun Bohnet

Assoz. Prof. Dr. Heidrun Bohnet is an Associate Professor of Migration and Conflict Research at the University for Continuing Education Krems' Department for Migration and Globalisation. She leads the PhD Programme in Migration Studies and coordinates the research cluster on Integration and Social Cohesion. Her work bridges migration studies with international relations, focusing on forced migration policies, conflict dynamics, and inequality. Key projects include EU-funded initiatives on irregular migration policies and interdisciplinary research on refugee rights and violence. She also collaborates with institutions like the Austrian Institute for International Affairs and MECAM in Tunisia.

Bohnet holds a PhD in Political Science from the University of Geneva, with prior roles at the University of Geneva and the Bonn International Centre for Conflict Studies. Her research spans Northern Africa, the Middle East, and Eastern Africa, analyzing displacement, policy gaps, and migration-governance linkages. She organizes the 'DEMIG Talks' series and has published in journals like Journal of Conflict Research and Civil Wars.
