Heidi Probst is Professor of Radiotherapy and Oncology at Sheffield Hallam University, Director of the Health Research Institute, and leader of the Cancer Management Research cluster. With 14 years of clinical experience as a therapeutic radiographer, her research focuses on improving breast cancer radiotherapy techniques and patient experiences.
Her research interests include developing immobilization devices for breast irradiation, enhancing patient dignity during treatment, managing radiation-induced skin reactions, and supporting patients undergoing breath-hold techniques. She leads projects including SuPPORT 4 All (developing a specialized bra for radiotherapy) and RESPIRE (creating patient resources for breath-hold techniques).
Her recent publications address patient-centered radiotherapy practices, clinical evaluation of breast immobilization devices, and management of radiation-induced skin reactions. This work advances technical aspects of radiotherapy while prioritizing patient comfort and treatment efficacy.
Professor Probst chairs the Breast Radiotherapy Interest Group and advises doctoral students researching cancer care improvements. She contributes to national radiotherapy guidelines through the College of Radiographers and collaborates with healthcare providers to implement research findings.
