Hector Garcia

Hector Garcia serves as Assistant Director of Athletic Bands at the University of Texas at San Antonio within the College of Liberal and Fine Arts, conducting the UTSA University Band and directing the Athletic Pep Band while assisting with the Spirit of San Antonio Marching Band during fall semesters.

His academic credentials include:

• M.M. in Instrumental Conducting from University of Texas at San Antonio (2023)
• B.M. in Music Studies from Texas State University San Marcos (2017)

Garcia specializes in instrumental conducting with emphasis on university-level band programs, integrating music education principles into athletic and academic performance settings. His professional focus encompasses marching band direction, pep band leadership, and brass/woodwind pedagogy, drawing from his background as a trumpet performer and his three years of prior teaching experience at secondary school levels.
