Harvey Teres is a Professor in the Department of English at Syracuse University and holds the William P. Tolley Distinguished Teaching Professor in the Humanities. He is affiliated with the Jewish Studies Minor and Modern Jewish Studies programs.

His research focuses on the public role of literature and criticism, particularly in 20th-century American contexts. He has written extensively on Jewish American writers, literary leftism, and community-engaged scholarship.
