Harel Weinstein

Harel Weinstein is a Professor at the Graduate School of Medical Sciences within Weill Cornell Medicine, where he also serves as the Founding Director of the Institute for Computational Biomedicine and Tri-Institutional Professor. His academic journey began with a BSc, MSc, and DSc in Chemistry and Theoretical Physical Chemistry from the Technion, followed by postdoctoral training at Johns Hopkins University.

Research Focus:

• Quantitative modeling of structure-dynamics-function relationships in membrane proteins, particularly neurotransmitter transporters and molecular motors.
• Pioneering allosteric pathway analysis in GPCRs, TMEM16 scramblases, and transporters to understand long-distance communication in biomolecular systems.
• Developing AI/ML-driven methods for analyzing biomolecular mechanisms in membrane proteins.
• Current work on SARS-CoV-2 molecular mechanisms to design antiviral therapies.
