Hanne Bergius is a Professor of Art, Design, and Architectural History at Burg Giebichenstein University of Art and Design Halle, where she has held this position since 1994. Previously, she was a Professor of Art History at Fachhochschule Münster (1992–1994) and held teaching roles at Universität Dortmund (1980–1989) and Staatliche Kunstakademie Düsseldorf (1987–1989). Her academic career includes a PhD (1984) and Habilitation (1992) from Freie Universität Berlin.
Her research focuses on Modern Art, particularly the Dada movement, and she has authored influential works like Das Lachen Dadas (1989) and Montage und Metamechanik (2000). She is a member of the Internationales Design-Zentrum (IDZ) and the International Otto-Gross Society.
Active in curatorial and institutional roles, she contributes to exhibitions and events at Burg Giebichenstein, including the 2025 Jahresausstellung and collaborations with the neue theater Halle. Her work bridges historical analysis with contemporary design and art practices.
