Hannah Shepherd is Assistant Professor of History at Yale University, specializing in 20th-century Japanese imperialism, urban development, and migration between Japan and Korea. Her research examines imperial urbanization through border cities like Fukuoka and Pusan. She holds a PhD from Harvard University, an MA from SOAS, and a BA from Oxford.
Her research interests include:
- Urban and spatial history of imperial systems
- Migration patterns in East Asia
- Women's roles in colonial contexts
- Transnational Korean-Japanese histories
