Hannah Pool

Dr. Hannah Pool is a Senior Researcher at the Max Planck Institute for the Study of Societies in Cologne, specializing in Economic Sociology. Her research explores the intersection of migration, border dynamics, moral economics, and global mobilities, with a focus on undocumented migration trajectories from Afghanistan to Germany.

• Educated at the University of St. Andrews (MLitt in International Relations) and Technical University of Dresden (BA in International Relations), she also studied at the University of Tehran.
• She has held visiting positions at Oxford University's COMPAS Institute, the Social Science Center Berlin (WZB), and Columbia University.
• Hannah's work has been recognized with prestigious awards, including the Otto Hahn Medal, multiple dissertation prizes, and fellowships from Falling Walls and Charlemagne Prize Academy.
