Han Wang

Han Wang is a Lecturer in Economic Geography at the University of Southampton and a Visiting Fellow at the London School of Economics (LSE). He holds a PhD in Economic Geography from LSE, completed with no corrections, and previously served as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of Oxford and an LSE Fellow in Economic Geography. His research focuses on regional governance, spatial growth, and local institutional efficacy, with notable projects addressing housing policy in England, firm creation in China, and historical governance impacts.

Education: PhD in Economic Geography (LSE), Postdoctoral Research at Oxford, LSE Fellowship. His expertise spans public policy, local government dynamics, and urban planning. He advises international institutions like the OECD, ADB, and EBRD. Teaching duties include convening the Economic Geography course and modules on GIS and sustainability.

Recent publications analyze inter-municipal cooperation, pandemic responses, and digital infrastructure’s role in firm performance. He currently supervises three PhD students in Geography and leads research on housing under-supply and ombudsman systems in local governance.
