Hamid Roodbari

Hamid Roodbari is a Lecturer in People and Organisations at the Surrey Business School, University of Surrey. He joined in April 2024 after previously lecturing at the University of Kent. His academic background includes a PhD in Management (University of Sheffield), an MBA (University of Sheffield), and an LLM in International Maritime Law (Swansea University). His research focuses on Human Resource Management (HRM) and Organisational Behaviour (OB), particularly employees’ health and well-being, leadership, career dynamics, and organisational interventions. He has conducted interdisciplinary work on extreme work contexts such as firefighting and maritime sectors, examining how occupational hazards affect employee safety and well-being. His PhD involved collaboration with Harvard University and the University of Sheffield on participatory interventions for food service workers. Roodbari has secured a research grant from NFRF and UKRI to study climate change adaptation for smallholder women farmers in LMICs. He supervises PhD students like Johnny Short and teaches 'People Practices' at the undergraduate level. His work appears in top journals like the Journal of Occupational Health Psychology and British Journal of Management.
