Hamid Rahai

Dr. Hamid Rahai is a Professor at the College of Engineering, California State University, Long Beach. He serves as the founding director of the Center for Energy and Environmental Research & Services (CEERS) and Associate Dean for Research & Graduate Studies in the College of Engineering. His work spans Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, and energy/environmental research, managing over $6 million in grants from organizations like the National Science Foundation, Federal Highway Administration, and Boeing.

• Holder of two awarded patents in wind energy and four pending patents for drag reduction systems and patient-specific lung diagnostics
• Recipient of the 2004 Northrop Grumman Excellence in Teaching Award and 2014 Outstanding Engineering Educator Award

Dr. Rahai has supervised more than 70 graduate theses, projects, and PhD dissertations, contributing to advancements in engineering education and research partnerships with institutions such as the Port of Los Angeles, Southern California Edison, and Long Beach Transit.
